April 28th!

Whew!!

Wow!   What a St. Paddy's weekend!   We had an absolute blast!   So much so that we forgot to take any pics and only ended up with one decent one, a shot of the wall to wall bodies in the Byrne's Pub tent:

Tremendous thanks to Pat Byrne and all the good folks at Byrne's Pub for taking great care of us and putting on a fantastic event!   And a huge thanks to the Shamrock Club of Columbus for having us out as well, it was a ton of fun!

As most of you know, it was a bittersweet day as we said farewell to Ryan Gross, playing his last two gigs with us that day.   He will be greatly missed.

Well, we're off to rest and heal up.  We're back at Byrne's in April, hopefully all you crazy Columbus-ites will have recovered by then and will be ready to rock and welcome Tom Shriver to the group!

St. Patrick's Day 2012!

St. Paddy's Day is fast approaching, have you made your plans yet?    We're gearing up and getting ready to celebrate!   We'll be rocking Byrne's Pub 4:30pm and Shamrock Club in Columbus, OH at 8:30pm.

We're officially kicking it all off a week early at the City of Powell, OH's annual St. Patrick's Day party at the Kinsale Golf and Fitness Center, which is always a great time and family friendly for those that want to bring the kids out for some Irish music and great Irish dancing.   Check our schedule for exact times and directions.  We'll see you there!

9CC E.P. Shortlisted!

We're excited to have our debut self-titled E.P. shortlisted by the great e-zine Celtic Folk Punk and More as one of the top E.P. / mini-albums of 2011!    You can cast your vote for us HERE.   Vote away, my friends, vote away!

Halloween Show!

Come on out to the Byrne's Pub / 9CC Halloween party! Get in your favorite Halloween costumes, get some great pizza and great beer, shake your spooky booty with us and win prizes! Great beer, great pizza, great music and great times ahead! Best of all, you'll be in costume so no one will recognize you and your crazy antics.....

New E.P. Review

The always wonderful e-zine Celtic Folk Punk and More have given our E.P. a great review!    They are a great source of finding new Celtic music and we highly recommend adding them to your favorites.   Check out their site, you won't regret it!

Review Excerpt:
"Yes, 9 Castle Close has no pipes but they sound better than many bagpipes rock bands. Excellent whistle player and fiddler fit perfectly with the great rhythm section and guitars. Everybody knows the song formula, to blend traditional tunes with rock instruments and new lyrics. It seems easy, but most of the bands fail. However, 9 Castle Close has succeeded with this 3 track EP."

Halfway to St. Paddy's Day Party

Sat, Sept 17th is halfway to St. Paddy's Day!  And if that's not a cause for drinkin' and partying, then what is?    We'll be leading the party in brand new digs, our first ever visit to O'Leary's Pub in Centerville, OH.  We're very excited to be invited there and can't wait to get the party rolling.    Make your plans now!

Happy Birthday Stuart!

Happy birthday to our fiddler extraordinaire (and purveyor of fine pumpkin wines and insanely hot peppers), Stuart Brand!

Happy Birthday Kevin!

Happy birthday to our fearless leader, Kevin Maloney!

Thank You!

We had a wonderful time at both the Dayton Celtic Fest and the mighty Dublin Irish Festival these past couple weeks!     We had more fun than you can shake a stick at, thanks to everyone who braved the heat work volunteer at these fine festivals.   We're extremely lucky to have two great events right here in our own back yard!

We were excited to see the big "jumbo-tron" outside the DIF Rock tents.   It's always nice to see a close-up of Stuart's head on a 15x15 screen towering over the festivities.

New E.P.!

We're extremely happy to announce that our debut self-titled E.P. will be available at this summer's festival shows and is now available to purchase online HERE!    And beginning Aug. 10th, you will be able to pick it up at most major digital sites (iTunes, Rhapsody, etc).

Happy Birthday Michael!

Join us in wishing a big happy birthday to our favorite bass player and good time rock 'n roll buddy, Michael Thomas!

Festivals!

Festival season is almost upon us!    We're taking part in two of our favorite festivals this year, the Dayton Celtic Festival and the Dublin Irish Festival!    Look at the awesome artists they have lined up!

Schedules are still being worked out, but check back here soon for official times and dates of our performances.    Until then, here's a little video of Kevin noodling on a new song.

June 4th, Byrne's Pub!

This Saturday, June 4th, we're rolling back into Byrne's Pub in Columbus, OH.   This is our last pub show before the festival season takes off this summer, and we're gonna rock it out in style!   So don't miss it.  Grab your friends and come on out for the party we'll be talking about for weeks (after the hangovers subside...)

Mid-Ohio Foodbank Benefit

Whew!

Wow, that was a crazy day!   Thanks to everyone that came out and made our St. Paddy's Day such a memorable one.   We're exhausted but very happy and hope you guys had as much fun as we did.    We need some time and a whole lot of coffee to recoup, but we'll be back at it very soon.

St. Patrick's Day 2011

So it's finally here!

And boy, do we have a busy day!   If you listen carefully on Thursday, you'll hear green-tinted rock 'n roll in Dayton, Columbus and Beavercreek humming through the beer-scented air. That's right, 9CC is hitting the road for a marathon crazy day of rock'n the Saint Paddy's Pardy!

We kick things off at 10 am at the Dublin Pub in Dayton. What's better than kegs and eggs followed by some rock to jump start your day? Then, will be heating things up @ 4 pm in Columbus at Byrne's Pub for a blistering 3-hour set of music.

But wait, there's more!

Follow us out to Beavercreek to the Pub on the Greene, where we close the cacophonous day out, starting at 10:30 pm.

Remember to follow us on Twitter as we'll be live tweeting all day long.   Now just don't show up during the last tune and ask for an encore; come jig-mosh (or is it mig? Or josh?) with us at least once, if not three times! We double-dog dare you!

Friday, March 11th

This Friday, March 11th, a few members of 9 Castle Close will be sitting in with the fabulous 43rds!    Come get some pre-St. Paddy's prep work going at O'Leary's in Centerville, OH.   Show starts at 8:00pm.

2011 is Here!

2011 is here, it's time to get things rolling again.    But let's take one last quick look at some fun stuff from 2010.

We still need a couple more weeks for the new year's hangovers to wear off and then we're welcoming 2011 at one of our favorite old haunts, Byrne's Pub in Columbus!   Jan. 29th is the date, 9:00-ish is the time!   Come on out and you'll get to enjoy one of Kevin's great stories!
